Whale Sharks are the gentle giants of the ocean, filter feeding exclusively on krill and plankton. That still didn't stop my heart from pounding as an animal the size of a bus came charging through with its mouth open wide. Every year the largest aggregation of whale sharks occurs off the coast of the Yucatan peninsula, and I didn't even realize the shot I had captured until days later. The whale shark, with its gaping mouth approaching the lens; the chop of the water creating a full frame and contrast makes it one of my favorite shots, and one of my all time best selling photos.
